Cake Couture for brighton town hall wedding
Alex and jess’ chic city wedding

To put it simply: Jess and Alex's chic city wedding in Brighton was absolutely stunning. Blending modern elegance with a relaxed, intimate vibe, the couple tied the knot at the Brighton Town Hall registry office before heading along the seafront with their guests to The Seahorse for their reception.
Both venues offer the perfect setting for a stylish city wedding. Being a Grade II listed Regency building, Brighton Town Hall provides a timeless backdrop with ornate architecture and historic charm. Situated in the heart of Brighton's iconic Laines and just a stone’s throw from their beachside evening venue, offering a mix of romantic, vibrant city energy and quaint streets, the perfect setting for a memorable day.
The Bridal Ensemble
Jess spent the morning getting ready at home with her closest friends. It was the perfect, relaxed start to the day, filled with special moments with her favourite people.
Jess’ bridal look was the ultimate definition of contemporary elegance! Choosing two separate pieces, her gown, by Michael Lo Sordo, featured a sleek silk silhouette creating a timeless yet contemporary vibe, layered with a crinkle georgette silk overdress by Bibi Luxe Studio. This helped to add a touch of texture and movement which made the whole look feel effortlessly chic.
Her accessories pulled everything together. With a sleek low bun and statement pearl drop earrings by Monica Vinader, as well as THAT BAG— the pearls are such a perfectly elegant nod to the seaside location in the most stylish of ways.
Jess’s bridesmaids were equally as stylish, each wearing a unique dress in complementary colours and styles. The variety of designs and textures created a cohesive yet individual look, perfectly matching the modern, curated vibe of the day.
The wedding Cake
This cake design combined two of my absolute favourite things: Cake (obviously) and fashion! I am so often inspired by fashion when working on new designs, so when Alex and Jess came to me with their ideas I just could not wait to get started.
This outrageously stunning two-tiered design was iced with a smooth, sharp, white chocolate ganache finish, the perfect canvas for our dramatic, oversized bow which was draped across both tiers.
The bow was constructed with layers of ivory bridal tulle, sourced from Borovick Fabrics, Soho. Using a rigid tulle for the underlayer and a softer, silkier tulle over the top, this gave our bow the structure it needed to hold its shape, whilst also creating a beautiful silhouette that trailed by around a metre.
We wanted to ensure the cake had its moment whilst still maintaining a sense of understated timelessness.
The bold bow design subtly mirrored the textures and details seen throughout the wedding, from Jess’s stunning silk dress to the elegant bow detailed Vera Wang cake knife and tableware. The beautiful bow details tying everything together (literally!), adding to the cohesion seen across all the little moments throughout their day.
Alongside your design, the chosen cake flavours are what will leave a lasting memory with your guests. Alex and Jess opted for delicate champagne and Strawberries for their top tier, and zesty Sicilian Lemon sponge for their base tier. Both are seasonal favourites for a June wedding; light and fresh, using fruits in season to balance out the sweet vanilla flavour of the white chocolate ganache.
If the wow factor of the design was not enough, the flavours surely would have been!
Wedding Reception at The Seahorse Brighton
The couple hosted their reception at The Seahorse, perfectly situated upon Brighton’s Promenade, with the iconic Brighton bandstand nearby and stunning views of the sea. The venue’s modern, bright interior provided the perfect setting for their contemporary styling. Alex and Jess opted for a neutral colour palette of whites and greens with pops of blue which flowed throughout the stationery and floral styling. Orchids, trailing Amaranthus and Anthurium were the focal flowers within the arrangements, creating a bold and fresh look.
Guests were greeted with a glass of bubbly whilst Alex and Jess snuck away for stunning portrait shots along the promenade. They returned for drinks, dinner and speeches before partying the night away with their closest friends and family.
